Resilience Continuum is a project by Claire Nyquist which explores life on Earth and the cosmos through data visualization and fiction. I have always loved the intersection of art and science, which has led me in two directions, both to realistic science fiction and exploring the freely available open datasets online through code. I use R, Python, JavaScript's D3 library, and other tools for data visualization.
I studied graphic communication design in London, UK and public health at the University of Minnesota. I am excited about the combination of these apparently disparate fields as they come together in data visualization.
I am inspired by art history including the artwork of Hilma af Klint, Marian Bantjes, Coralie Bickford-Smith, Katherine Duclos, Rick Guidice, Ernst Haeckel, Wassily Kandinsky, Golan Levin, Giorgia Lupi, Edward Tufte, Kehinde Wiley, and Frank Lloyd Wright.
In fiction and poetry, I love the work of Arthur C. Clarke, Frank O'Hara, Mary Oliver, Kim Stanley Robinson, and Robin Wall Kimmerer.
